Welcome
to the Internet home of the
Clan MacNicol /
Nicolson in Canada
The Canadian
Branch of the Society was formed for the promotion and preservation of
the heritage of the Clan MacNicol in Canada.
It is not only
a Canadian society. It is a part of an international society with branches
(Societies) around the world – in the United States, Australia,
New Zealand and, of course Scotland . All are dedicated to preserving and
promoting our common heritage and culture.
The Society
does more than preserve history. It actively promotes, fosters and
encourages the family spirit of the Clan MacNicol (Nicholson) among its
members around the world through social intercourse and friendship among
the members of the Society and Clan.
It is dedicated to informing and educating members of the society about
both their clan history and
culture. The Society as it is constituted around the world is also
dedicated to preserving Clan MacNicol history in the New World,
Australia and New Zealand.
The Society
participates as a Clan Society in Highland games across North America.
The main purpose of this activity is to promote the clan and Scottish
culture in North America. The other reason is because it is fun.
To illustrate our dedication to preserving our heritage the Society has
successfully raised funds to purchase back and maintain clan lands in
Scotland for the greater clans use at International gatherings and upon
visits by individual members to the clans homeland on the Isle of Skye
in Scotland.
Today we are raising funds in order to provide scholarships for the
children of some fortunate clan members. The selectively awarded
scholarships will see certain children sent off to learn traditional MacNicol Gaelic
songs, highland music and dance at summer camps in Nova Scotia run by
the St. Annes Gaelic College in Cape Breton.
Please browse
our site and check out the various links to all things MacNicol and
Celtic culture.
Thank-you.
