(Hello) from your fellow clansmen and Women
W
e
your Canadian kinsmen and women of the International Clan MacNicol
Society invite you to join us in the preservation and celebration of our
heritage. While many people in Canada who are of the surname Nic(h)olson,
Nic(h)ol(l) or MacNicol(l) are relatively unaware of their history, tradition
and descent from a once noble and powerful clan in northwest of Scotland,
we in the International Clan MacNicol Society have been keeping the
flame burning and now invite you to join
us and learn about your ancestry.
For
joining the Clan MacNicol Society you will enjoy many benefits.
Members who
sign up quickly will receive free of charge the authoritative hard cover
copy of our clan history book (The
Highland Clan MacNeacail (MacNicol); A History of the Nicolsons of
Scorrybreac) ($40 value).
Members will also receive a copy of our clan newsletter (Scorrybreac)which
is mailed out three times a year. Being a member will get you free
passes to highland games if you act as the clans games representative
and discounts on Scottish merchandize purchased from our official clan
supplier (See Links page for supplier). Yearly memberships are $35.
The late Chief
Iain (Nicolson) MacNeacail |
You
will also be invited to our North American and International
Clan gatherings where you can meet the true descendant and
current Chief John (Nicolson) MacNeacail of MacNeacail and
Scorrybreac who’s family were the resident chiefs of the Clan
in Scotland for more than 1000 years unbroken. All this
and the many friends and family you’ll meet from all over the
world make joining the clan society a proposition you just
can’t lose on.

Y
ou
are joining in time to get involved with and sign up for the
2008 International Gathering of the Clans in
Scotland. Clan gatherings are a great chance to
experience your Scottish heritage with a grand finale Ceilidh
(pronounced: Kaylee i.e. Scottish PARTY!) where old Gaelic Nicholson/MacNicol
songs will be sung and the playing of MacNicol bagpipe tunes will be
heard as well as
other traditional festivities such as highland dancing (jigs and reels)
for those of you who dare to participate. Please enter the registration
form on our International Clan site
when it is posted
if you would like to participate. So we invite all people of the surname
MacNicol, Nicholson and Nicoll in all there spelling variations of known
or suspected scottish heritage to join us.
T
hank
you for your time and before you go we would like to remind you of an
old highland saying that goes like this, "You can not know where
you’re going unless you know from whence you came".
